Former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, reportedly slumped at the burial of late Maj.Gen.David Akpodiete Ejoor in Ovwor-Olomu Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was learnt that Gowon was taking the final salute in honour of Ejoor when he suddenly slumped and was immediately rushed into emergency military medical tent.
Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and former governor of the state, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, who were seated with Gowon before the incident when the military parade was ongoing immediately rushed into the tent to ensure he is stable.
The development had triggered widespread panic and anxiety through out the funeral rite.
After a while, Okowa and Ibori came out of the tent and moved to their seat after two ambulances of the military as well as the Delta State ambulances, were immediately moved closed to the tent, in case the former Head of State’s health deteriorates further.
