The Urhobo Progressive Youth Association,UPYA is set to absolve new members into its TEAM. This decision was taking last Sunday during its usual monthly meeting at the National Secretariat in Ughelli.
According to the TEAM Leader, Marcus Ekure, “the decision came on the heels of necessity bearing in mind our immediate plans to expand structure to the various local government areas and later to the various kingdoms as well as need for human capital to drive the numerous programs that have just been initiated by the organization”.
Recall that this would be the very first time the organisation is opening its entry opportunity for intake in its esteemed TEAM composition. We have had so many expression of interests from many individuals in time past but the need hasn’t surfaced until now.
Amongst the new programs approved in are:
* UPYA Catch them Young Free ICT invasion;
* UPYA Mentorship Leadership Farm for teenagers;
* UPYA Non Stop Mobile Empowerment Train to fulfill Operation OYOS – One Youth/Woman, One Skill;
* UPYA Free Computer and Catering Spree at Ughelli campus;
* UPYA Graduate Trainee Program to groom and prepare graduates for numerous job opportunities etc.
These programs are highly strategic and imperative to our societal growth and development.
CRITERIA FOR TEAM MEMBERSHIP
(1) Applicant must be a graduate of any University or higher institution and must have a means of livelihood;
(2) Applicant must have history or track records devoid of any form of criminality;
(3) Applicant must be sacrificial minded and highly passionate about activities and programs of UPYA (This is because UPYA doesn’t have a tradition of money sharing. Rather we contribute when necessary to achieve goals).
PROCESS OF BECOMING A TEAM MEMBER
(1) Expression of Interest letter addressed to
the TEAM Leader stating why one wants to join UPYA;
(2) Upon receipt of such letter, invitation would be sent by an interview panel and applicant would be subjected to an Oral interview.
(3) Successful applicants would be presented with official membership certificates, membership band, I.D card and a copy of UPYA Constitution. All these would be done during an official induction ceremony.
