UPU ELECTION; AKPOFURE CONSULTS HRM’S. ORHIFI II, SIDESO 1, OKOREFE II

As the drum of the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) elections keep playing, Olorogun Tobore Peter Akpofure, the Otota of the Great Ughelli Kingdom took his campaign train to the Palace of HRM. Orhifi Orovwagbarha Agbarha – lde Ememoh ll (JP), the Ovie of Agbarha Warri, HRM. Dr. Emmanuel Ekemejewan Sideso Abe l, the Ovie of Uvwie and HRM Richard Oghenevwogaga Ebelle (JP), Okorefe l, the Ovie of Agbarha – Otor Kingdom respectively.

The Monarchs welcomed and presented kolanuts and drinks to Olorogun Peter Tobore Akpofure which was accepted by Chief Austin Oghenesivwohwo. The mouth piece of the Great Ughelli Kingdom and his team equally presented kolanuts and drinks to reciprocate his kind gesture.

Olorogun Peter Akpofure went further to present a copy of his manifesto to the Royal Fathers. He thereafter elucidated his political ambitions as contained in the document he presented.
He introduced himself for the benefit of those he is meeting for the first time.

He further stated that he has x-rayed the Urhobo nation’s leadership and where the Urhobo nation is today, which of course is a sharp departure from the past. He promised to bring back the Urhobo nation to the front burner if he becomes the UPU president general come December 1st, 2022.
He ( Peter Akpofure) identified the fact that the Urhobo nation is not united and he seeks to correct this anomaly because he has a very good vision.

He promised to bring to bare his more than 30 years experience in the private sector.
He made his host to understand the fact that the Urhobo nation is abundantly blessed with human and material resources which have been grossly untapped.

He stated further that what is needed at this point in time is a man who can make Urhobo nation to take its pride of place in Nigeria.
He passionately pleaded with the Royal Fathers to support his dreams and aspirations.

As a staunch supporter of the Urhobo historical society, he presented a book titled “United Kingdoms of Urhobo nation” to the Monarchs.
The Royal Fathers appreciated his coming and prayed for him to have wisdom to rule successfully, good health, God’s guidance in his going and coming, God’s blessings and generational wealth.

Continuing, the Royal Fathers said they are convinced of all his noble ideas for the Urhobo nation but HRM Okorefe l, requested to know why his Agbarha kingdom is not involved in the consultations.
Olorogun Peter Akpofure pleaded with him to give him a representative from his kingdom.
On this note, HRM recommended Chief Nat Obakanurhe and Chief Nat Obakanurhe accepted the appointment.

HRM went further to say that respect for kings should be paramount if he is elected UPU PG and that he should take security matters in Urhobo nation very seriously.

HRM further advised that if elected, there should be a synergy with kings, presidents-general, women, community chairmen and youths in order for Urhobo nation to be one.

Conclusively, the Monarchs said they has the trust and belief that he will do well.

Chief Austin Oghenesivwohwo gave the vote of thanks and they left the palace various palace with joy.
