Suspected gunmen have abducted a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, simply identified as Vera in Ughelli North local government area of Delta State in her farm.
According to source, the incident occured on Monday and it remain unclear if her abduction was politically motivated or criminally related.
The source held that some persons have been arrested in connection with her abduction and are being investigated over the allegations.
“She was abducted in her farm at the Oviri-Ogor community when she was on inspection visit to the farm with her Audi car.
Explaining further, he said: “She was accompanied on the trip by a security man of a late chief from Ekuigbo community who claimed to have fled with others at the farm when the hoodlums struck.
“The matter was reported at the Ughelli ‘A’ Division police station and from investigations, the hoodlums stormed the farm without a car knowing she would be at the farm on that day and whisked her to an unknown destination.”
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP, Andrew Aniamaka could not be reached to confirm the report as at the time of this report but a member of the party who spoke anonymously confirmed the incident.
