The executives of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ughelli South Local Government Area Ward 4 (Olomu Ward 1), Delta State have suspended Chief Milton Ohwovoriole (SAN) over allegations of betrayal of trust, abuse of power and total disregard for party constitution.
In a communique signed by Chairman of the ward, Chief Raymond Edirin Temisere, Mr. Oscar Odudu, Chairman Disciplinary Committee and 16 other executives after a combined meeting of the Olomu Ward 1(4) PDP executives and the Disciplinary committee, at Ophori-Olomu, stated that the decision to suspend him was as a result of his refusal to appear before the disciplinary committee to defend allegations leveled against him.
They explained in the communique that Chief Ohwovioriole was reported during the Olomu ward 1(4) meeting held on March 29, 2020 to had sent Chief Okiemute Oviri, a non-member of the ward to represent him at a meeting of Ughelli South Elders/Leaders Forum without considering any member of the ward eligible enough to attend the meeting.
They accused him of running the party in the ward as a personal organization (one-man-show) and not wanting to associate with the Olomu-ward 1(4) leaders and members because he felt they are not in his level.
The communique stressed that in view of the above, the ward set-up a 7-man disciplinary committee headed by Mr. Oscar Odudu to look into why he decided to sent a non-member of the Olomu ward 1(4) to such a meeting, when there are more capable hands in the ward.
According to the communique, an invitation letter signed by the chairman and secretary of the disciplinary committee was sent to him to appear before the committee on 16th April, 2020 which he failed to attend, hence the committee recommended to the PDP executives of the ward for his suspension.
“In a combined meeting of the Olomu ward 1(4) executives and disciplinary committee held on April 17, 2020 at Ophori-Olomu, the ward executives decided in line with Section 21.7 of the party constitution which states that ‘any member of the party who commits offences listed in Article 21 (a) is liable to any of or a combination of the penalties in section 21.7 (a-g), hence the ward decided to invoke section 21.7 (d) and suspended him.
