The Ughelli North Local Government Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, has placed the local government Head of Department, HoD Works, on indefinite suspension over alleged Sharp Practices levelled against the Department.
It was reliably gathered the HoD Works, Engr ‘Ochuko was allegedly fingered in the department for engaging unqualified hands to surround herself in executing shoddy construction works in the Local Government.
According to sources in the Department of works, “Our boss in the office abandoned some qualified COREN certified construction Engineers by engaging the non qualified.
The immediate past Chairman of the Local Government had issues with our boss over the purchase of the Siena vehicles that were presented to the seven kingdoms vigilantes, Legislative Arm, and the Nigeria Police Force.
Could you believe that our Boss in the office purchased those vehicles for N6 million each and the state of the vehicles infuriated the past Chairman.
“On the day of presentation, the immediate past Chairman, Olorogun Godwin Adode called our boss to the office and said in anger, you know say I fit reject these vehicles wen you buy so?
“In the department, she has a cabal that work with her, leaving behind her other Engineers because of greed and self aggrandizement, she don’t invite them for official meetings.
“But trouble bursted when the current local government council Chairman, Olorogun Jaro Egbo called for a meeting with officials of the department.
“Our boss only invited the cabals to the meeting leaving others behind, but unfortunately, the information leaked out and some of the Engineers gate crashed in that meeting.
“On sighting the gate crasher, the local government chairman asked for his identification and the Engineer, name withheld opened the can of worm that spilled the bean.” The source alleged
When contacted Chief Press Secretary to the Local Government Chairman, Mr Efe Ekete said, “There is nothing like that, she went on leave is all I know.
But a senior staff who spoke anonymously said, “HoD Works was not suspended but was asked by the chairman to go on a ‘Compulsory Leave’ and clear her table.
“The chairman check the leave roaster and find out that for so many years, most staff of the council has refused to go on leave and he weed the stick”.
