THE Area Commander, attached to Ughelli Area command, ACP Ademola Adebayo has banned local security operatives from mounting check points and road blocks under his command.
Though the report was sketchy, Politicsgovernance.com learned that, activities of the local security operatives comprising, Vigilantees, Hunters Group of Nigeria and the Anit-Cult accompanying trained police officers to check points have caused more harm than good.
According to security source, “Some of the challenges confronting the police in this area are caused by the local security and despite several warning by the Area Commander, most of them turn deaf ears.
,The Area Commander has no choice than to ban them from accompanying our officers and men to any of the nipping points.
“If you recall hundreds of women from Oteri community recently embarked on a protest condemning the activities of the police, but If you observed well, these problems are caused by the local security operatives with them.
“The recent familiarization visit of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abamiwonda Olufemi to Ughelli Area command, and the complains from the public was enough to put an end to some of their activities.
“We cannot rule them out because their contribution towards supporting the police in fighting crime in the various communities is helpful and we continue to work together but to a limit. A security source who confirmed the development disclosed.
