Three Suspected Robbers Set Ablaze By Mob In Delta

THREE suspected armed robbers allegedly terrorizing residents of Ughelli North and South local governments area have been set ablaze at Ekiugbo community in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state.
It was gathered the robbers with sophisticated weapons had earlier robbed residents of Iwhrekan community in Ughelli south local government after overpowering combine team of vigilantes from Edjorphe and Iwhrekan communities respectively.
Recounting their ordeals to newsmen, victims of the robbery, narrated that, “At Iwhrekan, they came to our compound broke the protector and destroyed our iron door and made away with our apple laptop, one Iphone 12 max, an Iphone SS max and four moblie android phones.
Also speaking, Mr Righteous Arobokeri said, “At about 12 :am i was woken up with the sound of gunshots in my compound and i could not do anything about it.
“They overpowered vigilantes from Iwhrekan and Edjorphe as such they were moving from house to house to rob their victims.
“Nine persons were shot including two vigilante members and they are currently at UBTH , with the information we are hearing, one of the victims that sustained gunshot injuries is dead.
“Three of my tenants were shot in the eye, chest and stomach respectively and they were referred to University Teaching Hospital Benin.”
At Ughelli, the robbers who came with a Keke and a motorcycle were apprehended and set ablaze at about 5.am on Wednesday when they were robbing their victims at Panama layout in Ekiugbo community.
A source from the mob who spoke disclosed that one of the deceased is popularly known as Calabar and his gang were responsible for the killing of vigilante chairman identified as Sunday at Iwhrenene barely a month ago.
