Sanitation: Environmental Officers Embark On East/West Cleaning In Ughelli North 

 

THE monthly environmental sanitation exercise in Delta State, was observed solemnly in Ughelli North Local Government, as there was no restriction of vehicular and movement of road users during the period.

 

The exercise monitored by the our reporter, the local government environmental officers headed by Sanitarian Victory Ikpibaku were seen clearing debris from strategic places at the Ughelli axis of the East/West road.

 

Speaking to the Pointer, Sanitarian Victory Ikpibaku said, “In today’s exercise, we found out that some places at the Ughelli/Port Harcourt express and roads in Ughelli North are very dirty, and blocking the roads would not be necessary as we focused on evacuation of waste, clearing of refuges and weeds.

 

 

“We have been able to clear and clean Agbarha junction towards Agofure Park, and presently heading to Otovwodo junction and the Patani expressway.

 

“We were able to remove heavy stones from the highway and block some leaked open ways to prevent motorcyclists from going the wrong lane and I am satisfied what we have done.

 

“It is going to be a continued process, I am satisfied with the commitment of my environmental officers for their level of support in achieving this might.” She said.

 

However, make shift stores blocking public places were pulled down as part of the exercise in the local government area. Store around the Oharisi Primary School were pulled down to give the institution a befitting look.

 

The Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun Jaro Egbo and some local government officials supervised the exercise.
