PRESIDENT and founder of Isoko Christians Political Movement, ICPM, Ven Augustine Ovie has congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State on the Supreme Court judgement which afirmed him as the duly elected Governor of the State in the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election in the State.
Ovie, in a statement shortly after the Organization Adoration/ Prayers Session held at the Erawha-Owhe, Isoko North LGA county home of the member representing Isoko Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Jonathan Ukodhiko, described Oborevwori as a tree planted by God which could not be uprooted by anyone.
The Anglican cleric and
former Isoko South Councilor who was the DG, Elo-Isoko Campaign Organization that ushered Ayo Othihiwa into the main stream of Delta State politics in 2019 elections, thanked God for the gift of Oborevwori to Deltans as their Governor.
Lauding Oborevwori for his simplicity, humility and good leadership qualities, he noted that the Governor “is approachable and accessible to all classes of persons,
“It is undisputed that his life of transparency and accountability earned him the historic longest serving Speaker who transcended from one Assembly to the other in a state of multi-ethnic nationality.”
He expressed gratitude to the immediate past Governor of the State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his vision in giving his support to Oborevwori in the electioneering period, expressing optimism that the Governor would build on the achievements and successes of his predecessor.
Ovie enjoined Isoko sons and daughters to “rally round Ukodhiko that is the unifying factor of Isoko congregation. Ukodhiko has the exact unique leadership qualities like our amiable Governor.
“Ukodhiko has displayed the virtues of the Christian representative we desired and prayed earnestly for him to fulfill his divine mandate for the Isoko people, Delta State and by extension, Nigeria.”
While enjoining politicians across the country to live up to their responsibilities and deliver on their election campaign promises, he stressed the need for them to
“make themselves available and evenly spread the dividends of democracy to accommodate the long neglected and rejected Christian community whose voting strength will determine the future winners of elective positions.
