Ahead of the 2023 general elections, foremost economist and risk management expert, Ayodele Oghogho Othihiwa has declared his interest to contest the delta south senatorial district seat under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in 2023 general elections.
Addressing party faithful during a consultative visit to the executive of PDP, Delta South secretariat in Warri, Delta state, Othihiwa said, “I am moved to contest the seat because of my desire to offer quality and consultative representation to the people of the district.
He said, “My representation will turn things around and change the development narrative of Delta South senatorial district because, It is a representation where the yearnings of the people are prioritized, sieved and brought to realization.
Othihiwa flanked by Secretary to Delta state Board of Internal Revenue, Barr Mike Edegware, pioneer chairman PDP Delta south, two time local government chairman Chief Philip Adheke, amongst other party faithful held that Delta South since inception has had an excellent representation by the creme of all those distinguished men and women who have been elected by the people.
According to him, Delta south cannot go below the pedigree of the likes of pioneer Senator Justice Atake, Chief E.K Clark, Senator Spanner Okpozo, Senator Stella Omu and current Senator James Manager, and I am going to build on their successes of worthy representatives with sterling qualities.
“I am an economist, chartered accountant and auditor of first class talent and currently serves as partner and head, financial services industry audit group at KPMG Nigeria and I have presented myself because I am confident that I have the pedigree and wherewithal to represent the district and attract the much desired development from the federal government.
He also spoke about his plan to utilize the abundant opportunities in information communication technology,ICT to create jobs for the youths of the senatorial district.
“I intend to develop a digital hub across the cultural ethnic groups that make up the senatorial district that will help to empower the youths to develop skills and competencies around digital transformation and the aim is to turn out at least 50 people from each of the cultural ethnic groups of Ijaw, Itsekiri and Isoko who will be skilled in these competencies and ultimately be a foreign exchange earner for the state and to further improved their earning capacity in today’s world.”
Responding, chairman of PDP Delta South, Hon Julius Takeme described Ayodele Othihiwa’s visit and expression of his desire to contest as a welcome development.
He said, “The caliber of personalities that are showing interest in various electoral contests is interesting and going by your profile, we are proud that God has blessed us with great personalities of your caliber.”
