The executive chairman Okpe local government council, Hon Isaiah Esiovwa recently commissioned COBAS Capital Bank limited in Orerokpe, Okpe local government headquarters, Delta State.
In his speech, Hon Esiovwa welcomed those presents at the formal opening ceremony of COBAS microfinance Bank, that is powered by Wema Bank plc to the administrative headquarters of the local government.
While congratulating the board of directors, management and staffs of the bank, he stated that the bank came at the right time, considering the volumes of persons moving out of the community in search of banking facilities to do their daily businesses.
According to him, the bank will certainly help to boost economic activities of Orerokpe and nearby communities and that he is very confident in Wema Bank that stands as a pillar to COBAS , because of its strong capital base.
He stated that “since the defunct New Nigeria Bank PLC, now Unity bank PLC stopped its operations more than a decade ago here in Orerokpe, it has not been easy with residents in the area of banking, so I assure the board and management of your bank a peaceful and conducive environment for your effective operations.”
Also speaking, Engr Bagwolo Koyaya, chairman of COBAS Capital Bank limited said the opening of the financial institution is to make financial services closer and accessible to the people.
He said, “this bank by extension is helping us to fulfill our dream in the community, we have made this strategic choice of Orerokpe so as to enhance the effectiveness and impact of banking operations among the people,
” with Wema and First Bank solidly standing behind us, whose softwares we are currently using to deliver goods and services to our customers at COBAS, you can now deposit your money here, withdraw, accounts opening, payment of bills transfers within and outside the country”.
Speaking in the same vein, Hon Kenneth Ewetuya one of the board of directors of COBAS Capital Bank limited also noted that the bank has come to stay to develop the community in terms of job opportunities and closeness to banking operations.
Similarly, Chief Ambassador Godwin Eguriase Ejinyere, the Duke of Orerokpe community and representative of the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom congratulated and thanked the directors of the bank for choosing Orerokpe for their business.
