Delta State Governor, Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has commiserate with the Nigeria youths that have lost their lives in the protest for a better country.
Over 16 youths were shot dead by security agencies at Lekki, Lagos state in #Endsars Protest across the country.
Gov Okowa in his verified facebook handle pleaded with the Nigeria government time to address and respond to their demand.
He wrote, “The videos and pictures of violence and shootings that have marred the #EndSARS protests are very disturbing.
“I convey my deepest condolences to the Nigerian youth and the families of all those that lost their loved ones during this crisis.
“As a father and a leader who met with the young protesters here in Delta State, I was grieved by their tales of woes in the hands of the disbanded SARS.
“It is obvious that we cannot suppress the voice of the Nigerian youth. They have suffered untold pains from police brutality and vented their frustrations in the last two weeks.
“As leaders, our duty is to right the wrongs. We need to start the process of rebuilding a nation that works for all. We must take immediate action to inspire hope and confidence in our people — especially the youth.
“To our dear youth: you have spoken loudly; you have changed the narrative. The reforms that you have called for cannot be wished away.
“Please give the government time to examine and respond to your demands/grievances. Do not allow your well-intentioned protests to take a negative turn. You are our heroes/heroines.”
