As part of its social responsibilities to humanity and the society in general, Overcomers Christian Center, Int’l OCC, has donated educational materials to students and wards in Delta state.
Among the items donated are, Note books, Biros, Pencils, toiletries, Crayons and the awards of scholarship.
Speaking during the presentation at Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, the host, Pastor Oreva Peter Idudhe said, “This event is one of the social responsibilities of the church to her immediate communities to showcase the love of Jesus Christ in giving.
According to the clergyman, “This event tagged: ‘Back to School Student Support Program’ will be a continuous thing in the church across the state and nation to alleviate poverty and support the less fortunate or privileged and indigent students as school resumes.
The clergy who also an educationist held that it is a shocking realization that scores of students resume school without notebooks and basic learning materials which has underscores the high level of poverty and deprivation in the land.
Speaking further he said, “Scores of learning materials were given out free to the hundreds of school children that came during this event. Learning materials from Pre- Kg to Senior secondary schools were given out freely which includes, pack of notebooks, biro, tissue, drawing books, crayons, mathematical sets.
“This Year also witness the given out of Scholarship to an orphan, Miss Clara Omoaworiowho, and Miss Ogheneruno Ufuoma Oba who lost her father.
While appreciating supporter and donors toward the success of the program, Idudhe appealed for partnership from the state and federal government.
Appreciation in this regard go to the very highly esteemed Dr. Chuks /Dr Mrs. Angela Godwin-Osborn of Abbaslove Int’l Church, Texas, USA who said that the church can be the light and a pacesetter and giving in this direction.
We also appreciate the management of Axxon Energy, Freda Fantasy Cake shop, Wilben Collections, Chicago based Evang. Isoken Aideyan-Ogbomo and all Overcomers Christian Centre int’l members that contributed in cash and kind in making this program a huge success.
Some of the recipients of the educational materials promised to use their items judiciously and improve on their academic performance.
“We will put in our best with these items in our academics to ensure that the purpose of this program is achieved.”
Expressing her profound gratitude to God and the church, the Chief Inspector of Education, CIE, Ethiope East LGA, who was also the guest speaker, Dr. Christy Okerie, admonished parents to put their children education foremost.
She said, “It is only through education that their children can achieve excellence in life.
she also frowned at parents who spend so much on personal pleasure at the expense of their children education that they are hipping judgement on themselves if thier wards are set back in education.
Also the General Overseer Apostle Emmanuel and Pst Joy Azaka tagged the program ‘Practical Ministry’ lauded gesture of the resident Pastor Oreva Peter Idudhe and his wife, Pastor Mrs. Gloria Erhieyovwe Idudhe and all members of the Home of Abundance for this great initiative.
Present at the occasion include: Mrs. Ebi Osuobeni, Board Member, School of Health Ofuoma, former PA to NDDC Commissioner, Delta State, Engr, Doubrado Isuosuo, Chief Inspector of Education Ethiope-East Dr Christy Okerie and a host of students parents and Guardians.
