FORMER Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State, Chief O.A Orugbo has expressed reservation with his being profiled as leader of a tendency in the PDP in Udu LGA affirming that he belongs the one PDP family in Udu rather than any tendency if they ever exist, stressing that he was glad to have delivered his unit and ward in the March 18 governorship and House of Assembly elections in Udu Local Government Area.
Addressing newsmen in reaction to a piece authored by one Samson Umukoro with regards to issues arising from the 2023 general election in Udu LGA, the former Udu Council boss expressed displeasure with the outcome of the elections, noting that he worked hard to deliver the PDP in all the elections and that the loss of the House of Assembly seat to the opposition APC was painful though avoidable.
Chief Orugbo, who is the Udugba of Udu Kingdom explained that the Udu PDP Stakeholders he funded was never a tendency in the PDP but a movement geared towards mobilizing support for all PDP candidates ahead of the election.
‘’Ahead of the 2023 general elections, many people came up with different slogans like ‘Team Peter for Sheriff’, ‘Team Paul for Sheriff’, but I rather came up with a movement for all PDP stakeholders without attaching my name to the group after due clearance from the state leadership of the party. It was a movement designed to strengthen the party under the leadership of Evang David Siloko as Chairman and Chief Eddie Ono-Sorhue as Chairman of the College of Leaders.
‘’There was no ulterior motive behind the movement. I mobilize members to work assiduously for the party candidates. Chief Jite Brown’s loss despite his victory in my ward was a personal loss to me because I worked for him not necessarily for him but for my party and I had no regret for my stand.
‘’And I thank God for the enabling grace to win my units and ward despite the antics of those who left the party just to humiliate me. In the end, they lost and were roundly humiliated, not by my own strength or wisdom but by the grace and mercies of God. I therefore personally wish to celebrate Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on his well deserved victory at the polls’’, Chief Orugbo said.
‘’Let me re-emphasize my joy with the victory of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori because if he had lost, we would have labored in vain. We made enemies to deliver our party in my unit and ward and I am glad our governorship candidate won the election. To God be all the glory’’, he added, calling for genuine healing within the party so as to build a virile, election –winning party from now going forward.
