Emmanuel Emenike has said he is far from finished after he marked his official debut for Olympiacos with a goal in the UEFA Champions League.
Emenike came off the bench in the 88th minute and hit target three minutes later for Greek champions Olympiacos to beat home team Partizan Belgrade of Serbia in a third qualifying round of the Champions League.
The big striker has signed a two-year contract with Olympiacos after a trying time at Turkish giants Fenerbache.
“I just wish to say that I am not a finished striker, I am improving. I just want to be on the pitch to play better and score goals and I believe I can do that at Olympiacos,” Emenike said shortly after his goal-scoring debut.
“I don’t want to talk about the past because there’s a target for the future.”
He also said his goal at Partizan Belgrade will further boost his self-belief.
“It was a perfect goal that will build my confidence, it was a great relief and I am glad that my team won,” he revealed.
“I am here to win and score goals for the team just like the way we did and I promise to score more important goals like this.
“The win has put us in the driving seat to play (in the group stage) Champions League.”
The return leg against Partizan Belgrade will be played on August 2 with the overall winners advancing to the playoffs for the group stage of the Champions League.
