Hotel Manager Injured In Police Accidental Discharge In Delta Community


A manager of one of the hotels in Agbarho community was seriously injured in an accidental discharge from unidentified police officer in a raid embarked upon by Delta State Police crack team in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The manager, Mr Gabriel Ovu was set to have been shot on his abdomen during the raid by police from the state command and was rushed to one of the hospitals in Agbarho.
Though the report was sketchy, it was learned the security agents are in search of the suspected killers of Agbarho Police division DPO, CSP Nasir Hassan Jega who was on rescue operation.
It would be recalled that, CSP Nasir Hassan Jega was called for a back up by his DPO colleague from Orerokpe division, CSP Paul Oboware who was also shot on the neck and currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the state.
It was also learned that an ASP whose names could not be ascertained is also missing with an AK-47 riffle during the unfortunate incident.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, however denied the accidental discharge from one of his men when contacted said, “Not Confirmed”
But security source from the Delta State Police Command who confirmed the incident on anonymous condition said,”The team raided deferent drug cartels, prostitutes joints and hotels.
According to the source, “On 15th October,2024 about 4:pm combined team of personnel of the police  drafted from various divisions, Area Command, and vigilantes led by the Deputy Commissioner OPS one Aina Adesola,  Delta State command in search for the suspected killers of Agbarho Police DPO and arms, carried out a raid and search operation in agbarho community.
“During the exercise, the accidental discharge occurred in one popular hotel, Maliza hotels, and the manager, Mr Gabriel Ovu, was injured in his abdomen and was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment by the security agents.
“The police officer that causes the accidental discharge is yet to be identified.” The security anonymous source disclosed.
