UGHELLI Descendants Union, UDU, the apex sociocultural body of Ughelli Kingdom has debunked an alleged online audio rumour that suspected Fulani herdsmen recently met the the traditional ruler of Ughelli Kingdom for a parcel of land
Addressing newsmen at the palace of the Ughelli traditional ruler in Ughelli North local government area, the president general of Ughelli Kingdom, Chief Pius Omubaye expressed disappointment over the alleged fake rumour that has been on various social media platforms that herdsmen numbering 200 met with the monarch, HRM Dr Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III, for a parcel of land.
It was gathered that the online audio message alleged that 200 herdsmen allegedly met the ovie of Ughelli Kingdom Dr. Wilson Ojakovo Oharisi III, for a parcel of land to dwell.
According to the online audio, the Ughelli Monarch turned down their request and the herdsmen left and allegedly entered the land and forest of Ughelli Kingdom an allegations that was out rightly
Speaking, Omubaye described the allegations as a calculated attempt by unknown persons or group to smear the character of the person of the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom without any iota of truth.
He said, “Member of the public especially the people of Ughelli kingdom to disregard the online audio and go about their lawful business and they should alert security formations about the threat.
“UDU is advising Indigenes and non-Indigenes of Ughelli Kingdom to be at alert and report suspected movement of unknown faces to the leadership of Ughelli Descendants Union and security agencies.
“While the UDU condemn the insecurity in Nigeria, it is asked all o defend themselves when necessary just it calling top hierarchy of security and President Muhammadu Buhari to step up more measures to stop forthwith the killing and abduction of innocent persons.
“The Ughelli Descendants Union, UDU align with all interest groups for effective security measures in parts of Nigeria.” It stated.
