A social political group, Agbarho Political Elite, has honoured the immediate past chairman of Ughelli North Council, Hon. Chief Godwin Adode with the award of Excellence Performance for Humanitarian and capital development.
Hon. Adode was elected Ughelli local government council chairmen in 2018 to 2021 and was reelected for a second term in office in 2021 to 2024 respectively.
The group had during the presentation of the award described Hon. Godwin Adode as a man who finished strong during his two terms tenure as chairman of Ughelli North.
Ughelli North PDP, chairman, Pastor Kesiena Nomuoja said, “Hon. Chief Godwin Adode tenure ended few days ago and the Agbarho Elite thought it wise that he has done a lot for Agbarho community likewise other communities in Ughelli North and he should be honoured.
The honour is a way of telling him thank you and for other people to emulate him because in PDP, I we always tell people thank you when they do well.
His performance at the council cannot be 100 percent but toward the end of his tenure, he came out to do a lot and that made him to finish very strong.
He was known for zero allocation and those that know, understand what I mean and when the allocation was surplus, we all saw how he performed.”
Also Chief George Ushere said, “He executed projects, and in terms of Human Capital Development, he finished strong and that is why we have gathered here to honour him as one of our own.
“He was instrumental to the peace we are enjoying today in Agbarha, he ensured that genuine reconciliation was done and we can sleep with our eyes closed.
Reacting to the honour and award bestowed on him, Chief Godwin Adode said, “I am surprised with the honour and award given to me by the people and leaders of Agbarho community.
“I was shocked with the reception given to me even after I have left office and I want to appeal that they should continue to support the party, PDP, their sons and daughters of and the state governor in particular.
“My six years in office as the council chairman, was not easy and I can tell you that I was the most criticized council chairman in the state, despite the fact that Ughelli North is a complex local government.
“I ran the council for 5 years and 3 months on deficit because of the wage bill, Ughelli North has the highest council workers and teachers and when other councils are paying N30 million as salaries, we were paying N120million.
“But after the subsidy removal, we begin to have surplus and with what was coming, we have to embarked on projects and those who knew said I have done well.
“Our projects are very visible, you can go an verify, there is no community in Ughelli North that we did not put in a project and in all I give all the glory to God and this the support us.”
