Fmr APC Chieftain Denies Rape, Conspiracy Allegations Levelled Against Him

 

A former chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Atanoma Odhowho Godswill, has denied the allegation of rape and conspiracy leveled against him and personality.

Chief Atanoma, a politician and business man who denied the allegations in a press briefing with selected journalists at his country home in Irri community, disclosed that it is the handiwork of his political enemies.

It was would be recalled that in 2023, the former APC was allegedly accused of rapping a female who came to visit his sister in his apartments and it was widely published by mainstream and online media organizations.

Speaking during the press briefing, Chief Atanoma said, “On that particular day, when I returned back from work, I had two visitors who came in search of my sister that was not around and after we exchange pleasantries, they said they are going to their farm and they left.

“After two, three hours, the two ladies came back again and they met me taking red wine and one of them said he wanted to drink with me.

“Before I accepted to have a drink with them, I asked them about their age and one said she is 19, I asked her again, have you finished secondary
school? she said yes.

“I had a drink with one of them while the other one asked for Captain Jack Rum, which I explained to her that even me, I can’t even take Captain Jack because of the volume of alcohol.

“After that incident, they left and I left for work. While I was at work, I received a phone call that one of the ladies is announcing that I raped her.

“It was surprising that after I left for work, they brought the police to arrest me but when they did not meet me, the police arrested my brother and sister.

“I insisted that the lady that accused me of rape should be taken to the hospital for examination, no knowing that before I insisted, they Police took her to the hospital and as I speak with you now, they never released the results of the test they did.

“Even the biological father of the lady was not given the result and it was then I realized that my political enemies are at work.

“I and the family, after a long battle, the then Delta State Commissioner of Police advised that we should go back home and resolve the issue because it is a family thing.

“There was no evidence of rape against me and we both resolved the matter amicably after the instructions of the Commissioner of Police and it is on record.

“While I appeal to my supporters, followers and the general public to remain calm, I am aware that my political enemies are at work but if
anybody continue to embarrass or harass me on that, I will take the matter up with such person legally.” Chief Atanoma Odhowho revealed.
