Following the unabated cult related crisis and the breakdown of peace talk between two confraternity, Eiye and Maphite,a 45 years man simply identified as Solomon Christopher has been allegedly killed by suspected cultists in Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was learned that, Solomon Christopher, a father of five, suspected non cultist but a brother to one of the rival cult groups was murdered last week along Oviri-Agbarho road in the area
Multiple sources in the community disclosed that the crisis has claimed more lives than expected as peace talk between both leaders of the cult groups failed to yield successful results.
One of the sources said, “People should be aware that the conflict between Maphite and Eiye continues in Agbarho, Delta State, with more casualties reported.
“Two people were allegedly k!lled at Okpalefe Junction, while one person was reportedly shot but survived the attack and there are reports of cultists targeting the homes of their rivals; if the rivals are not found, their properties are being destroyed.
“We urge the proactive Delta State Police to investigate the situation in this area, arrest the cultists involved, and restore peace and order to the region. Stay safe.
Another source said, “We received reports that someone was shot in the mouth last night on Esiso Street near Ashawo Quarters in Agbarho.
“Last night, we received reports of a man killed in the Eiye and Maphite cult clash in Agbarho, but the identities of the attackers and victim remain unknown.
Unverified reports claim that nearly 12 deaths have been recorded since the peace talks failed and a result indigene of Agbarho living in other states has vowed not travel home for Christmas due to the violence.
Though the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Edafe Bright could not be contacted but a senior security source from the state confirmed the incident.
The anonymous security source who confirmed the death of Solomon Christopher said, The 45 years old father of five simply identified as Christopher Solomon was attacked by six men suspected to be cultist.
“After he was killed, a member of the cult groups with the name Sam belonging to one of the groups was attacked and shot.
The source further disclosed another father of three, whose Identity could not be ascertained was killed few days after the death of Solomon Christopher.
In a related development, it was learned that at the Oteri-Ughelli axis, Maphite and Eiye has a similar clash at the Izigwe area of the community, though no live was lost at the time of this report.
