A yet to be identified pregnant woman and a motorcyclist have been confirm dead in a head on collision accident involving an SUV and a motorcycle along Oteri-Ughelli/Ovwor road in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta state.
It was gathered that the driver of the Pathfinder SUV, with registration no: Delta UGH-11-CH was returning to Ughelli from Ughelli South local government when he lost control and had the head on collision with a motorcycle with reg no: Delta, GRA-74 QW conveying the pregnant and her husband.
According to sources at the scene, “The driver, a Venerable in Anglican Church was avoiding a bad portion of the when he lost control, hits the motorcycle rider and his passengers that were coming from the opposite direction.
“He rammed into a furniture store, and destroyed the showroom and other items he shaded.
Another source disclosed that the driver slept off on the steering, killing the pregnant woman, and the motorcyclist and from the information we are hearing, the husband is dead making them three.
Narrating his ordeal, the furniture, Mr Efemena Umukoro said, “I left the place i was sitting at the front of my store, when a my neigbhour called to show me something at the back when i heard a loud noise.
“I came to the front to see that the frontage of my store and items on display were destroyed. But i was happy that nothing happened to me and my family, it is sad that the pregnant woman and the Okada rider died.
Blaming the management of Ughelli Central Hospital for the death of the third victim, a sympathizer said, “If the husband of the pregnant woman is dead in what we are hearing, the hospital management should be held responsible.
“They do not accept electronic transfer bur cash before attending a patient, knowing fully well that the current naira redesign is having hard effect on Nigerians.” the anonymous sympathizer revealed.
