THE traditional ruler of Ogor Kingdom had in a sworn affidavit denied appending his stamped signature on the newly reviewed constitution of Oviri-Ogor community in Ughelli North local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered that Oviri-Ogor community, had reviewed its 2015 constitution in 2023, where the signature stamp of Ovie of Ogor Kingdom was allegedly lifted on it.
Though the monarch did not respond to message sent to him by newsmen but a sworn affidavit that was deposed by the traditional ruler at High Court of Justice in Ughelli Judicial division and was obtained, he called for the investigation and prosecution of those involved in forging his signature.
According to the affidavit, “I HRM, Okiemute Onajite, IGERE 1, the OVIE of Ogor kingdom, Male, traditional paramount ruler of Ogor kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta Nigeria do hereby make oath and state as follows,
“That I am deposing to this affidavit to give consent to the nominal complainant case of forgery of my signature to your office.
“I recall clearly that the purported Oviri-Ogor Community Constitution and Bye-laws dated 6th November, 2023 was not signed by me but my old stamp signature scanned and or super imposed into it to give legitimacy to it.
“I stopped using my old signature contained in the said Constitution between 2019 and 2020 and produced a new signature which is different from the old one contained the 2015 old constitution in size and design.
“I state vehemently that the culprits who forged my signature in the 2023 constitution should be investigated and possibly prosecuted.
“I have reiterated this position at the 14th December, 2023 Ughelli North Government Council Peace and Security Committee meeting particularly paragraph 4 of the resolution reached on the said date.” The monarch held.
It would be recalled that the community had in the 2023 constitution review elongate the tenure of leadership in the community which is currently generating confusion.
