The Chairman of Oleh Community Development Committee Chief Obaro Ekokobe has denied and debunked totally any involvement in the alleged attempted kidnap and assassination of Chief Jubilant Igelige, the Isoko Development Union Publicity Secretary over the Oleh leadership tussle.
It will be recalled that on the 10th of December 2021, Chief Obaro Ekokobe, the Secretary to the Odiologbo of Oleh Kingdom, Chief Otovo Festus, Chief Zaiki Okupa a member of the CDC, alongside with Mr. Ikwenu Moses, a driver to the Odiologbo were arrested and taken to the State Criminal Investigation Department, on alleged kidnap and assassination attempt on Chief Jubilant Igelige.
In a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South local government area, Chairman of the Oleh CDC Ekokobe stated that, “I am not a kidnapper, I have no gangs of assassins, I am a gentleman, humble, freeman and a traditional title holder in Oleh community.
“I have no criminal records anywhere, they should go and find out anywhere if I have any criminal tendency.
Chief Ekokobe also pointed out to newsmen that, ‘I was not at the scene of incident, I was not aware of it, I was in my house on the 10th of December when police came to my house and I was arrested alongside with two other Chiefs from the community over an issue we have no idea of.
According to Ekokobe, “From the content of the petition that was given to me, which I read through, there was no allegations against me as to have committed any offence.
“Before I was arrested, it was known to the general public that the issue of the alleged assassination attempt was with the Area Command, Ozoro, and I was never invited any day in respect to any crime or attempted kidnapping or assassination of anybody”.
He also revealed to newsmen that the case of his arrest is still under investigation, “I was denied bail for one week, a petition came and the case was transferred to police headquarter, Abuja, and those who arrested me were invited to Abuja and they refused to honor the invitation.
On the dissolution of the Oleh CDC, Chief Ekokobe asserted that the CDC was never dissolved by anybody because the issue is before court of competent jurisdiction, that nobody can interfere in any issue that is pending in court.
He however berated those who are perpetuating evil in Oleh community to desist from it, noting that evil will only drag the community backward.
