Education: Golden Jubilee Of Emore Grammar School Kicks Off 7th September

The programme for the 50 years celebration of the Emore Grammar School, Oleh is billed to kick off on the 7th of September, 2022 with the inspection tour of the school premises and a courtesy call on the Isoko South Local Government Council Chairman, the Odio-Ologbo of Oleh, HRM Anthony Ovrawah, Omogha 1 who is the Royal Father of the Golden Jubilee and the Ugholeh Orphanage, Oleh.

In a press statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer of the Emore Grammar School Old Students Association (OSA) Comrade Emmanuel Ekebe, the Golden Jubilee celebration is set to be a landmark event in the life of the school and the thousands of graduates that have passed through it in the past fifty years.

Comrade Ekebe who doubles as the Publicity Sub Committee Chairman of the Golden Jubilee celebration stated that the weeklong celebration as packaged by the EMOGRAMS Old Students (OSA) is intended to showcase the modest strides of the school so far as well as the students who have made their marks in various endeavours, both locally, nationally and internationally.

According to the Golden Jubilee programme of events, Day two, September 8, 2022 is designated the Founder s Day and will begin with traditional dances and exhibition starting from 6:30am.

This will be followed by the registration of EMOGRAMS School mates into the official website of the Old Students. Thereafter, the main Founder s Day events which will be chaired by Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, immediate past Commissioner for Education will kick off by 9am with the following highlights; the declaration of the Jubilee celebration open by the Special Guest of Honour His Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State Address by the National President of OSA, Mr. Emmanuel Egbure, address by the School Principal and the inauguration of an endowment fund for the school.

Immediately after that, Governor Okowa will commission the Golden Jubilee Hall sponsored by Hon. Chief Eta Enahoro who is an eminent old student and also chairman of the Warri Branch of the Emore Grammar School Old Students Association (OSA).

After the commissioning, the Pioneer Senior Prefect is scheduled to move the Vote of Thanks before the departure of the State Governor which will be followed with goodwill messages from the Odio-Ologbo of Oleh, elected and appointed political leaders, the Chairman PPEB, the President General, Oleh Community Chief Believe Alakri (also an old student) and others. The Founder s Day is expected to wind down with a Golden Jubilee lecture that will be delivered by an erudite scholar of Isoko extraction, Professor Oghenekaro Ogbinaka also an old student of EMOGRAMS.

Day 3 of the Golden Jubilee celebration, 9th September 2022 will feature reports and discussions, variety show, exhibition and the main conference which will culminate with the election and swearing in of a new executive of OSA to run the affairs of the Association for another three years.

Day 4 of the Jubilee celebration will be the grand finale which will feature exhibition, dances and award ceremony to acknowledge outstanding old students, donors, teaching and non-teaching staff and posthumous award to the Pioneer Principal of the school, Chief Obaro Aso among others.

Other activities for the grand finale will include a novelty match on Saturday, September 10, 2022 by 3:30pm while the day will close with a mega Gala night to wind down and exchange of barters amidst old school music.

On Sunday September 11, 2022 which is the 5th day of the Jubilee, all old and present students (in their uniform) alongside well-wishers shall converge by 8am in the morning for a thanksgiving service at the Anglican Communion St. Paul Cathedral, Oleh. Emore Grammar School, Oleh which was originally St. Barnabas Grammar School started as a modern school in the sixties but became a Grammar School on September 8th 1972 and has the singular honour of bearing the name EMORE, the acclaimed leading founder of the Oleh Kingdom.
Meanwhile, various Sub-Committees have been constituted by the National Working Committee of OSA to ensure the successful execution of the Golden Jubilee programme.

The sub committees include Finance Committee with High Chief Iduh Amadhe and Dr. Eric Oghonu as alternate Chairman. Brochure Committee with chairman of OSA Home Branch, Albert Udoma Edoka as chairman and the Entertainment Committee with Anthony Edheka as Chairman.

Others are accommodation, venue and decorations with Samuel Odize as chairman, while documentation is headed by Barr Urete, the current chairman of Isoko Branch NBA. Ck
