Delta APC Youth Leader Defects To PDP

A notable youth leader of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) and top Aide to Olorogun Ovoke Oshasha, Lucky Omopekun, has led over 50 persons from the APC to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli Ward 2/6, Ughelli North Local Government area of Delta state.

Omopekun and his supporters declared their defection from the APC to PDP shortly after the PDP governorship candidate for Delta state, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori visited the ward in continuation of the party’s ward to ward campaign.

They were immediately received into the PDP fold by the Ward 2/6 Chairman of the party, Ejoke Emedjere who assured them of a level playing ground.

Before his recent defection, Lucky Onokpekun was a strong youth mobilizer for the APC in the area, and was at the forefront of Olorogun Ovoke Oshasha campaign for the Ughelli North, South/Udu Federal Constituency seat before he later decided to chicken out of the race, following claims he was asked to do so by the Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege.

Speaking shortly after his defection, Lucky Omopekun  noted that he decided to abandon the APC due to its failure to reward loyalty and hard work.

He pointed that despite having stood firm for the party even in the face of life threatening oppositions, and selfless service and loyalty to it, the party had never deemed it necessary to show appreciation to him and his supporters.

He said, “I have laboured for APC, created many enemies because of APC, my life was threatened severally because of APC, but in all this what do I and my supporters have nothing to show? Nothing.

“The party is one that does not reward loyalty. We have seen the light in PDP and have decided to move, and with no apology to anyone whosoever.”

Receiving Lucky and his supporters on behalf of the PDP, Ejoke Emedjere assured them of a level playing ground and equal treatment with other members of the party.
