Court jails Man For Killing Grandmother After Allege Rape In Delta Community

A Magistrate Court holden at Ofuoma community, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, has sent to prison a suspect who allegedly killed his grandmother after rapping her multiple times in the community.
The suspect known by his first name as Kelvin, it was learned that after rapping his grandmother, stabbed her multiple times to death.
According to sources from the community, “Kelvin a bricklayer  is the son of the only surviving daughter of his grandmother known as, Ighoyowho Helen Okule.
“Though we did not know what transpired between him and his grandmother on that fateful day because he has been the one taking care of his grandmother since she was abandoned by her daughter who is the mother of the suspect.
According to the source, the deceased grandmother is a cripple and on that fateful day, Kelvin was the one that gave the woman food after bathing her before he went to look his daily bread through bricklaying.
“After he returned from work, while at home, he discovered that a woman was strangling him and while he was trying to free himself from the bondage, he discovered that there was another woman hold his legs.
“While struggling, he stumbled on a cutlass and he used to matchet his attacker, only for him to wake up to see that it was his grandmother that he matchete.He gave same statement at the police station when he was arrested”.
Another source disclosed that the boy was rapping his crippled grandmother and while the woman was struggling to free herself, she was attacked by the grandson.
Immediately neighbors that heard the noise coming from the building located at Akpoguma Quarters in the entered the house, the boy escaped.
When they entered the house, they saw the old woman that was stabbed multiple times, one of her ear was chopped of and we saw that he was also raped with way we saw her.
“The grandson was eventually apprehended and brought to the community junction for mobbing but the timely intervention of the local vigilantes saved him from being killed.
The community vigilantes got him arrested and was taken to the police station for further investigation before he was sent to prison by the customary Court in the area.
Though the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer SP Edafe Bright never responded to terse messages sent to him as at the time of this report.
But a senior security source from the Ughelli Area Command confirmed the incident.
“The suspect was charged to  court last week Wednesday for murder and he was eventually sent to prison by the court “. The security source disclosed.
