Kidnapped Guardian Newspaper Correspondent in Bayelsa state, Mr Osahon Olusegun has been released at the early hours Saturday April 2, 2022 by his abductors.
Osahon, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Bayelsa State and other were last Sunday kidnapped along Ogor-Evwreni axis of the East/West road in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta and the driver of the Sunny Eru motors Bus with vehicle registration number Delta: TDU 270 XA was shot dead.
Osahon and others were travelling to Warri, Delta state from Yenagoa before they were being kidnapped and the driver of the vehicle killed.
His kidnappers contacted the family to demand for a ransom of N5 million to secure his release.
According to sources, he was released after it was alleged that a ransom was paid at Iyede community, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The source further revealed that they were set free along Iyede/Ughelli express way after they had trekked for nearly six hours in the forest.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright when contacted said, “Will find out” but a source closed to the victim confirmed his release.
