Bashorun Askia Mourns, Console Wife Of Late Chief Etaluku

The Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh has consoled Chief Mrs. Christiana Etaluku, wife of late Chief D.E.A Etaluku over the death of her dearly beloved husband.

High Chief D.E.A Etaluku, an elderstatesman, community leader and ambassador of joined his forefathers barely two weeks ago.

In his condolence letter to the wife, Odio Askia lamented the sudden of his artful teacher, peace maker and father figure.

He said, “My dear Chief (Mrs.) Christiana Etaluku,

I am still in profound shock since the unbelievable, painful and unexpected transition of your very dear husband and our father, High Chief D.E.A. Etaluku. The jolt to me is monumental because I have suffered a very personal loss with his passing.

High Chief was not only a father figure to me, he was my artful teacher in the school of perseverance, grit and diligence. Peacemaker per excellence, from Papa we learnt that in the pursuit of peace, there should be no room for peace of the graveyard. He believed that tranquil is achievable if we are consistent in accepting opposing views despite palpable misgivings or reservations.

Straightforward and discerning, I never knew High Chief to be two-faced. He was blunt, yes, but his forthrightness in thoughts and deeds were devoid of hurtfulness. He always let us realise that unwanted and unpleasant truths sometimes hurt but will always be for our good. His beliefs in the truth were so intense, he never gave any form of qualms expressing them.

The trumpet has sounded for our father but his imprints on the sands of time are worth emulating. We wish he lived longer but the wisdom of God in taking him to His abode at this time is unquestionable. We all, especially you and the children, will miss his caring absence, his enchanting presence and his very wise counsel at times of great discomfort.

But let us all be consoled because he lived a life that knew no boundaries, which purpose was for the uplifting of humanity.

I pray that the Almighty God console and comfort you and the children and the entire family as we thankfully ask Him in His majesty and mercy to grant Papa’s gentle soul eternal rest in His bosom. Amen.
