As part of efforts to cushion the effects of the flood on displaced victims in Arhavwarien Kingdom, Ughelli South LGA , Delta State. Arhavwarien Advance Club (AAC), a non-political organization and in collaboration with Arhavwarien indigenes in UK and USA, has set up an intervention Committee to flag – off the distribution of relief materials and medical outreach to those affected by the ravaging flood in their communities.

The President of Arhavwarien Advance Club (Worldwide) Mr. Solomon Awhariado said the club has set up an intervention Committee to look into the situation. According to the Committee Chairman Olorogun P. Ifogbe, they are studying and planning strategies towards the achievement of the mandate given to them in response to the global flood disaster ravaging all the villages within the Kingdom.

Olorogun Ifogbe also assured that the victims affected by the ravaging flood will be given adequate care by the Arhavwarien Advance Club, stating that though it is a natural disaster, the club cannot fold its hands and watch their people suffer so much hardship.

Also commenting on the issue, the Secretary of the intervention Committee set up by AAC Rev. B. Omoruvwie noted that their assistance would be in two ways which are food and medical outreach to be given to the affected flood victims as part of their little support and also assessment of the situation to ascertain the level of the disaster. He added that the AAC is doing everything within its reach to ensure that everyone in the communities within the Arhavwarien kingdom is safe and healthy.

Recounting their losses, some of the internally displaced persons said the flood has brought to them devasting effects as they have lost all they have laboured for over the years. They appealed to all well-meaning Arhavwarien sons daughters to join hands to support them.

The club also appealed to the state government and other spirited individuals to assist in alleviating the plight of the people while thanking all donors so far, stating that the wellbeing of Arhavwarien indigenes has always been and will continue to be AAC priority.

The committee has been directed to commence the distribution of the relief materials and medical outreach immediately AAC said.
