Urhobo National Youth Congress (UNYC) wants to use this medium to appeal to our amiable Governor , His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to consider Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori as the best man for the job of the Chairman Delta State Commission.
This appeal is based on the personality and pedigree of Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori who has contributed in no little measure in philanthropy and sports development in Delta State without any oita of doubt.
Hon. Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori who was a footballer and bonafide member of the All Star Football Club based in Warri, Delta State hence the most qualified and best man for the job that’s why we endorsed him unequivocally without reserve.
We are confident that Onoriode will deliver on the job if appointed as Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission.
He has a well structured plan for the overall development of Sports in State. He will build on the enviable achievements of his predecessor, Mr Tonobok Okowa, who led Delta State to victory at the National Sports Festival on three different occasions at Abuja 2018, Edo 2020 and Asaba 2022.
A key aspect of Onoriode plans after due consideration is to rebrand, rebuild and reinvigorate all football teams in the state, both male and female.
There will be structured programmes for the resurrection of youth football at different age grades: U13, U15, U 17, U19, U21.
These teams will feed the state male and female senior teams as well as export talents to the rest of Nigeria and the world.
The Delta State flagship football team, Warri Wolves FC, an erstwhile household name, is today plying its trade in the lower cadres of the Nigerian Professional Football League. With Onos as Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, it is envisaged that players will leave their clubs to play for Warri Wolves FC and the team will return to the Premiership, where they rightly belong.
Hon. Onoriode philanthropy and generous nature is clearly illustrated by how over the years he has routinely accommodated male and female football players and teams at his hotel, providing financial support, housing, feeding and logistics.
A key pivot of His Excellency Chief Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda is Meaningful Development and this forms the core of Hon. Onoriode transformation agenda to sports in Delta State, by focusing relentlessly on the development of sporting talents across the state.
Finally, we call on all sports lovers, well meaning Deltans and professionals to join hands with us in persuading our amiable Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Chief Sheriff Francis .O. Oborevwori, to appoint our very own Hon. Onoriode Joshua Oborevwori as the next Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission for MORE success on our tracks and fields events.
