Igbide Union Ughelli Branch, has held her end of year get together ceremony with a call on members and Isoko people residing at Ughelli to identify with their various communities and the Isoko Development Union, IDU the umbrella body of Isoko nation in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The event organized by the leadership of Igbide Union Ughelli branch, was held to brainstorm and foster unity among the Isoko people, other ethnic nationalities, and the Great Ughelli Kingdom in particular.
Speaking at the ceremony, chairman of Igbide Union Ughelli Branch, Prince Godspower Obukeni said, “I want appreciate our elders for their continued support towards the union her executive members.
“Without your wisdom and guidance, we may have erred, and this your support has showed that Igbide Union Ughelli Branch is on the page of progression.
“Firstly I want to appreciate the traditional ruler of of Ughelli Kingdom, HRM Evang Wilson Ojakovo, Oharisi III JP, APJ for being a father to all in his kingdom.
The Ovie of the Great Ughelli Kingdom has demonstrated his fatherly love to all and sundry and the provision of an enabling environment for other ethnic nationals to thrive in Ughelli.
“Our mothers , our wives are not left out because of their support in ensuring that the home front is peaceful in other to allow us to strive well in all our endeavors.
“This gathering is for all sons and daughters of Igbide kingdom residing in Ughelli to come together, know themselves and be abreast of the happening in our community and our environment.
“Identifying with your people and immediate environment is very important mostly when we live in a different communities or kingdom.
“However the Isoko and Urhobo are same brothers from same origin with language differences as both culture, customs and tradition are just slightly different.”
“The people of Igbide kingdom are peace loving, accommodating in everywhere they find themselves and as a result can adapt in any situation despite challenges.”
“I urge you all to be law abiding and know why you are here on a sojourn, develop your immediate environment, interact with people and be an agent of development”.
Highlight of the event was a vote of confidence passed on Prince Godspower Obukeni led leadership by the women folks led by Mrs Rhoda Akelemor the Chairperson of Igbide Women Union, Ughelli Branch.
