The Urhobo National Youth Congress (UNYC) has called for peace between the Hausa and Igbo Communities in Asaba.
The group acting President, Prince Comr. Austin Emuetama who made the clarion call, stated this in a phone chat that this act is unhealthy to the state mostly at this time when the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F. Oborevwori is working towards ensuring peace is restored in the crisis between Okuama and Okoloba communities in the riverine area of the state.
Recall that several military personnel were gruesomely murdered recently in the embattled Okuoma community.
In his statement ” I want urge and advice those communities involved in the recent crisis in Asaba to be calm and obey the the state government order to ensure peace in Asaba to enable the governor focus on his MORE Agenda for Deltans”
The clash in Asaba where many have been reported dead is unhealthy to the state government focus on implementing the MORE Agenda hence should be looked into with utmost urgency to avoid more casualties and destruction of properties.
According to the available report, the clash occured as a result of dispute between Hausa Okada/Keke riders and some taskforce men in Asaba.
He therefore call on the State House of Assembly to formulate a law that will regulate the activities of Okada/Keke riders in Asaba and the State at large and also those involve in such act to calm and obey the directive of the of state government to maintain law and order in the State Capital.
