Nigerian Army Bar Journalists From Covering Okuama Destruction As Governor Oborevwori Visits Scene

The Nigerian Army, on Monday, prevented journalists from accompanying the Delta Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to access the extent of destruction at the warring communities of Okoloba and Okuama in Bomadi and Ughelli South Local Governments Area.

Governor Sheriff who had visited the communities held a closed door meeting with the Military for over an hour.

The Delta state governor, was received by the leader of the military JTF, General Officer Commanding 6 Division Nigeria Army, Major General Jamaal Abdulsalam.

The military Joint Task Force, however, barred journalists from covering the governor’s assessment tour of the troubled community.

The JTF operatives barricaded the major entries to Okuama with an armoured personnel carrier tank, thus preventing vehicular and human traffic, including media men, from gaining access to the community.
