An Inspector of Police drafted from PMF 51,Oghara attached to the Olu of Warri Palace as guard has lost his Ak-47 rifle with sixty (60) rounds of ammunition while watching the AFCON final match between Nigeria and Ivory Coast in Warri, Delta state.
It was learned that the Inspector, Yusuf Samaila had locked his weapon in his room and left to watch the match within the Olu of Warri Palace premises.
According to a security sources from the Warri Area Command, “The Inspector has been warned severally against locking his weapon in his room before the unfortunate incident occurred.
The senior security source said, The unit commander attached to Olu of Warri Palace who came to incident the case of missing firearm revealed that the Inspector locked his Ak-47 rifle with breach number: 0927, with 60 rounds of ammunition in his room and went to watch the AFCON finals between Nigeria and Ivory Coast within the palace premises.
But when he came back to his room during half time, he found out that, the house was burgled and the said rifle was taken away.
“He has been defaulted and the case is reported at Warri Area Command while effort to recover arrest the suspects and recover the stolen gun and ammunition is in place.” The security source revealed.
Efforts to contact the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright was not successful as text message sent to him was not replied as at the time of this report.
