Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy Senate President, has congratulated the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) for successfully holding an election that saw the peaceful emergence of a new executive council.
He also felicitated Comrade Churchill Oyowe for emerging victorious at the end of election as state chairman of the council.
In a press release by Sunny Areh, his Media Adviser, Omo-Agege noted since the NUJ was able to conduct a rancour-free poll, the press has shown that it is truly the fourth estate of the realm.
“With the transparent outcome of the election, the press has shown that it could also be a pathfinder in the search for a credible electoral process for Nigeria. I believe that NUJ can evolve the appropriate template for an electoral process that will not only be credible but seen to be transparent.
“I urge the Delta State Council to continue to set the pace in peaceful transfer of power in the country. I urge Comrade Churchill Oyowe to consider his overwhelming emergence as a call to duty to uphold the the tenets and virtues Delta NUJ hold high,” Omo-Agege said.
