Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have killed a man identified as Sunday Oshovwe and kidnap the wife of Owevwe community president general, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered, the wife of the community president, Mrs Mercy Akpovukoko was kidnapped from her family compound last Tuesday evening.
A source from the community, who spoke on anonymous condition said, “The kidnapping of our community leader’s wife led to the killing of our brother Sunday Oshovwe who is in his late 30s and his death is causing grief.
“He and others friends were sitting at the store of president wife when the kidnappers stormed the place and he was unlucky as others escaped.
Though the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright could not be contacted but a senior security source attached to the state command confirmed the incident.
The security source said, “The wife of Owevwe community president general, Mrs Mercy Akpovukoko was kidnapped and in the process they shot one boy.
“She was kidnapped from their house and as at that time, her husband, Philip Akpovukoko was not around.”
As at the time of this report, it could not be confirm if her abductors have made contact with the family for a ransom.
