CHAIRMAN of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon.Godwin Adode has commissioned a block of over 16 offices in Ughelli North Secretariat renovated by his administration in fulfilment of his electoral promises.
Hon. Adode also commission a four classrooms block at Izomo primary school, Eruemukohwarien, a lecture hall and a self contain apartment and at Oharisi Model Special school, Ughelli in Ughelli North Local Government Area respectively.
Speaking at the commissioning, Hon Adode said, “For some years now, the local government has been passing through stress because our allocation has always been on deficit but after President Tinubu subsidy removal, we got some funds to embark on massive renovation in the council.
“I have to meet with all the councillors and pick some projects from constituency 1and 2 and we concentrated on primary schools and we did massive reconstruction.
“The Special School is a dear project to my administration, because it is not common here except in the South West and when I saw people coming from neighboring local governments, I have to pick interest in it.
“I have to build lecture hall and a staff quarter for them and we are going to provide learning equipments, like computers, projector and desks to ease their education.
On the office, Hon. Adode said, “When I came into office, most of the offices in council were demarcated with ply-boards and we have to change, transform and partition them with block, tiles the floor, change all the doors, window and furnished them all.
“I want to assure that my administration will finish strong and before the end of our tenure, we will do more, even as we have embarked on other projects in the local government.” Hon. Adode disclosed.
Commending the council Chairman, the coordinator of Oharisi Model Special School, Mrs Ogbodku Agnes, in this secondary school, we have students that have hearing impaired, they don’t hear or speak.
But they do write same exam just like every other students and we have in this school from JSS1 to SS3 and some of the students the left here are in the higher institution now in the West.
In this school, the student are taught skills, they produce their uniforms and other craft works.The local government chairman has empowered us to do the more for the students with the construction of a staff quarter and a lecture hall.”
At Eruemukohwarin, Olorogun Felix Ogbobore described the provision of the four classrooms block at Izomo primary school as a welcome development.
Ogbobore said, “Before now, the classrooms were nothing to write home about but the reconstruction has given the school a new look and just like Oliver Twist, we need more in the grassroots.”
