Mosque Attack: Abductors Of Imam Demand $350k, As Injured Worshiper Dies

ONE of the injured victims of the recent Ughelli Mosque attack by unknown gunmen in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state has died from bullet injuries sustained in incident.
It was gathered the deceased, identified as Alhaji Hassan Mohammed died at UBTH after he was referred from Oghara Teaching Hospital.
This is just as the hoodlums in an unverified audio message have threatened to cause more attack if the government and people did not cooperate with their demand.
The abductors of the deputy Iman, Mallam Mohammadu Sani who made contact demanded for  350,000 dollars ransom before it was reduced to $200,000. It was learned.
It would be recall that a mosque was attacked were about 11 worshippers shot and a deputy Imam was abducted.
It was gathered that gunmen five in numbers in an unidentified ash Toyota Sienna stormed the Mosque located at Otovwievwiere street in Okorodafe axis of the Ughelli metropolis at about 6:am on Friday and were shooting sporadically before abducting their victim.
According to the secretary of Arewa Community, Ughelli North, Darlington Ahmed Garma, “One of our person Alhaji Hassan Muhammed that was referred to UBTH died at about 3:am last week Wednesday, his corpse has been released and he has been buried according to the Islamic rites in Kano state.
Speaking further in the abduction of Mallam Mohammedu Sani, Garma revealed that contact has been made and his abductors are demanding for $350,000 ransom and currently they have reduced it to $ 200,000.The security agents are aware of the situation”.
“We are currently leaving in fear because the hoodlums are threatening to come for more attack, they have penciled down some targets and that is making us to be jittery.”
When contacted, the Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, Edafe Bright said, “I can only confirm that the man has not been released yet and i don’t know if there is any negotiation as the police cannot be involved in the ransom negotiation and if anybody is telling you that one, it should be the police and not civilian.”
