The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, has ordered for a rerun of primary election for Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives after it cancel the previous primary where Talib Tebite was declared winner.
According to a statement issued by the Delta State Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza on Sunday disclosed that a rerun has been scheduled for Monday, May 30, 2022, at the Ughelli Township Stadium by 1 pm.
Dr Osuoza did not give reasons for the cancellation but referred to a decision of the Appeal Committee of the party which sat over a petition concerning the election which earlier declared Hon. Talib Tebite as the winner with 34 votes.
The statement “This is to notify all concerned Aspirants, Delegates, and party members, that the primaries, earlier conducted for the Udu/Ughelli Federal Constituency, has been cancelled by the National Working Committee, (NWC) of our party, as a result of a decision taken by the Appeals Committee.
“A new date has now been fixed for the Re-run of the Primaries on Monday, May 30th, 2022 at Ughelli Township Stadium at 1 pm.
“The following, concerning delegates, Aspirants, Agents, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Security Agencies, and the Media should please take note”, the statement added.
