Ex-militant leaders in Ekeremor local government area of Bayelsa state have issued warning to the state government over the alleged returning of Community Trust members to the Oporomor Cluster Board.
In a statement signed by “General” Clinton Ebiama, spokesperson of the state chapter of the ex-militants, Phase II, and “General” Akpos Gala Komman stated that “It would be a grievous mistake for any former member of the Community Trust particularly from Amabulou community to be returned into the Oporomor Cluster Board while many others are waiting.
According to the statement, “These groups of people who are seeking for a return into the Cluster Board have initially served for a period of seven years, and five years respectively and we will resist any attempt by the government or whoever that would want to return them to Oporomor Cluster Board.
“The crisis rocking Ekeremor local government communities are linked to these set of persons and through them, many lives have been lost.
“We are appealing to the state government to consider the safety of lives and properties and should consider it as a prominent factor not to be misinformed to return them particularly in Amabulou community unless the government is enjoying the killings in the communities.
“The community GMOU Cluster Board scheme belongs to everyone and not to a particular sets of person, they have previously enjoyed the membership Oporomor Cluster board and it is time for them to stay clear for other new persons to taste the oil benefits.
The government should critically examine the causes of incessant crisis occuring in our oil bearing communities in Ekeremor LGA and put an end to this self centered and greedy people, particularly in Amabulou community”. They said.
