Nwaoboshi Carpets Okowa Over Poor Performance

—Describes his administration as the worst

The Senator representing Delta-North and Chairman, Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has lashed out at the Okowa adminstration for mismanaging the State. Nwaoboshi expressed this opinion yesterday when he visited Chief Adizue Eluaka at his Asaba residence.

Addressing a crowd of supporters who had gathered at Eluaka’s compound to receive and congratulte him on his recent court victory, the Oracle, as he (Nwaoboshi) is fondly called, accused Gov. Okowa of playing vindictive politics rather than concentrate on governance. He said the Okowa administration was the face and hand behind what he described as false and fictitious petitions against him, adding that the administration went as far as trying to bribe the judiciary to nail him. According to Nwaoboshi, “some people think that they are clever but they are just clever by half”.

The PDP Senator carpeted the Okowa administration for underdeveloping Delta and dared anyone to challenge him on any legacy project Okowa has built since becoming Governor. In Nwaoboshi’s words, “… people would say Anioma, Anioma,… the only flyover in this town was built by Uduaghan, the Airport was built by Uduaghan, the Government House was built by Uduaghan, the Event centre was built by Uduaghan, the Stadium was built by Uduaghan, … tell me what you have done to show that Asaba is important to you!… tell me one single thing that you will say you have done”.

Continuing, Nwaoboshi said “I am a PDP but you have to be part of a system to tell the system what is wrong”. “I am a PDP man but I must say the truth. Wike is building eight flyovers in Rivers State, what has he (Okowa) done in Delta State?”

On Gov. Okowa’s statement that Deltans should not vote a Governor “who will not see Asaba as his home”, Nwaoboshi described the Governor as being tricky and clannish, cautioning him (Okowa) to stop sponsoring division and inciting the people against their neighbours. Nwaoboshi said those who have committed themselves more to the development of Asaba are not from the Anioma nation, whereas Okowa as an Anioma son has nothing to prove that he truly loves the Anioma people. Nwaoboshi said Okowa “keeps saying Anioma! Anioma!! What has he done for the Anioma people?”

As the gathering came to a close, one of his kinsmen sought to know from the Delta-North Senator if he was leaving the PDP in view of his comments over the disappointing performances of the Party in the State; Nwaoboshi neither answered “Yes” nor “No”. He reiterated (jokingly in his native language) that having traveled in a vehicle for some time now, Deltans should know whether the vehicle can take them to their desired destination or not.
