…extends Gen’ Bobo tenure by 2-years
Ex-militants under the Presidential Amnesty Program, PAP, Phase III, across the nine states of the Niger Delta region have called on the federal government to give maximum support to the Interim Administrator, Col. Milland Dixon Dikio for the smooth take off of the verification exercise.
Speaking at Ogbe-Udu community in Udu local government area of Delta state, the leader and national chairman of the 3rd Phase Presidential Amnesty Program, Comr. Tonye Bobo disclosed that the verification exercise will weed off hidden slots that has continued cause ripples amongst ex-agitators in the region.
Comrade Tonye Bobo was confirmed to run the affairs of the 3rd phase for next two years after the expiration of his six months interim administration.
The body also inaugurated a 10-man national and states executive members for smooth ruining and proper dissemination of information to all the ex-agitators.
According to Comr Bobo, “So many genuine agitators of the 3rd phase that dropped their arms have been left behind and as much as we must bridge peace, bridge the opening gab and right the wrongs to ensure that peace reign in Niger Delta.
“Though the government is doing her best, but it has to do more because in the agitations and struggle, we have seen that so many people are in need of trainings, skills acquisition, empowerment and job opportunities.
“Since the arrival of Dikio as the interim Administrator of Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, he has created the environment for us to dialogue and discuss with them, therefore, we are urging the federal government to support and give him all the needed assistance for him to succeed. If Dikio succeeds, the government and Niger Delta region will succeed.
Also, the chairman advisory committee from Edo state, Com. Ogidigba Godstime said, this gathering and inauguration of the 10-man national body and the state executive is all about peace building to ensure that the 3rd phase work in harmony with the federal government.
“Before now, we dissolved all various factions of the 3rd phase amnesty program to ensure that we come up with a 5-man interim body for a period of six months to dialogue with the leadership and the amnesty office and haven seen what comrade Tonye Bobo did in that short period of time, we passed a vote of confidence on him and extend their tenure run for the next two years.
“They were five man committee before now, but after the vote of confidence, we have to add another five persons from the nine states of the region to the national body in other to reduce the work load on them.
“We are satisfied with his leadership qualities and today we have inaugurated his 10-man led executive to pilot the affairs and we will support them without rancour”.
