Education: Increment In DELSU School Fees Is Another SARS After The Covid -19 Fees

Comrade Oturu Sovereignty has described the recently increment of tuition fee by the management of the Delta State University Sneaks as another form of SARS after imposing covid-19 fee on students by the institution.

The Medical Doctor cum Master of Ceremonies who disclosed this in a statement on his  facebook page lamented that the nation is yet to recover from Coronavirus pandemic before the increment by 200 percent.

“It is so pathetic that at a time like this when parents, guardians and students are yet to recover from the problems of Covid 19, the management of Delta State University, Abraka is increasing school fees outrageously after imposing Covid 19 fees on students immediately after resumption from Covid 19 break. This unfriendly increment is what I tagged another form of SARS that we all need to put an end to.

“I therefore call on all and sundry to help us put a stop to this detrimental increment of DELSU schoolfees. The same school that once paid as low as Nineteen thousand Naira (#19,000)as school fees, making Delsu one of the cheapest State owned institution is now on the other side of the story, student are being ask to pay almost one hundred and eighty five thousand naira (185,000) meanwhile salaries of parents and guardians still remains the same.

“This outrageous increment will increase the number of dropouts who cannot afford to pay this money, hence increasing the number of people who will constitute nuisance and engage in other social vices in the society.

“The Government should be thinking of school fees reduction and giving incentives to encourage so many youths out there in the streets who already have the mindset with the slogan ‘Last Last School na Scam’ to embrace education.

“I therefore call on the state government to immediately reverse the school fees increment. Since DELSU is a state owned institution and the school management cannot make such decision without consulting with the state government.

“I also want to urge all students, student’s Union and affiliated bodies to come in one accord this time to ensure we gain victory.

“Dare to Struggle, Dare to win
