The United Nations (UN) supplied essential medical equipments to Nigeria at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport, Abuja in support of the Federal Government fight against the global pandemic.
The equipments which were delivered by the United Nations in Nigeria to curtail the spread of the Corona virus contain some Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) and ventilators.
According to the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Nigeria, Mr Edward Kallon, “The first shipment that arrives with the Allied Cargo contains fifty ventilators and three thousand six hundred and five kilograms of PPEs equipments and materials.
He further stated that “the second shipment is expected with thousands of PPEs and the third shipment is also expected with testing kits.”
The representatives of the Federal Government who received the equipments appreciated the UN and Allied Air Cargo who supplied the items free to Abuja.
The Minister of Aviation, Mr Hadi Sirika said “the task force COVID-19 accept this kindness from the UN system and we assured them it’s going to be use for the betterment of our people in this country.”
Nigeria assured the UN of effective utilization of the medical items.
