Former member of the House of Representatives, Okpe, Sapele, Uvwie Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq. has advised Christians all over the world to take into consideration the welfare of others as they celebrate Easter.
In a press release signed by her Media and Publicity Director, Hon. Sunday Apah, the ex-lawmaker said the advise was because Easter is a period when Christians come together to mark the ultimate sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ for mankind in His death and resurrection that brought redemption to our souls.
Oboro who is also the Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on DESOPADEC Matters, stressed that Easter is a period when after denying ourselves the usual comfort and pleasures of life in the Lenten season; we are once again united with fellow Christians across the world in celebrating God’s profound sacrifice for mankind in the unspeakable sufferings of His son to give us Salvation.
According to the Delta Central Senatorial Candidate of the PDP in the last election, we are at a trying time as a country and as a state, COVID-19 has tested our faith as never before but as Christians we should never be discouraged by the current reality of the pandemic
“But Easter is also a season for sober reflection on our lives and the renewal of our personal covenant with God and our relationship with our family and friends. No time in humanity that is more vividly reminded of the significance of sacrifice to human progress and advancement in all facets of life than the Easter period. Every Easter, the entire Christendom is forced to recall that our salvation is a product of priceless sacrifice.
“As we re-unite with our loved ones and friends this Easter, I urge you to devote a little time to reflect on your relationship with your neighbours and the personal sacrifices that we must all make to create a better society for ourselves and our children yet unborn”, she added.
