..as Bishop Enakirerhi lauds Gov Okowa for proactive measures
Residents of Ughelli North local government area have strictly complied with the directives of the Delta State government on the stay at home order over its continued fight against the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
Markets in Ughelli metropolis were closed as store owners, traders and Banks also maintained the stay at home directives.
Combined security agents and local vigilantes were stationed at major junctions to ensure that the stay at home directives by the state government is adhered.
This is just as the chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Delta State Chapter, Bishop Kingsley Enakirerhi lauds the effort of Governor Okowa proactive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Speaking to newsmen, chairman of Ughelli North Council, Godwin Adode said, “Most of our people are yet to believe that Coronavirus pandemic is real and we are educating them on that effect.
“I am going around the designated places to ensure there is strict compliance to the stay at home directives as stated by the state governor”.
However, the lockdown was partially maintained at Iwhrekpokpo as road users and store owners were battling with security agents attached to Agbarha-Otor ‘B’ Division.
A senior security officer who spoke on anonymous condition said, “We are finding it difficult to control the people because they felt the disease is not real.”
Also, Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Youths and community Development, Chief Victor Egbo appealed to Deltans to adhere strictly and complied with state directives on the stay at home.
“I am appealing to our people to take the precautions and maintain the social distance warning saying; two weeks is not two years neither 14 days is fourteen years. We should always monitor and keep our environment clean.”
At Ughelli South, the chairman Dr. Richard Kofi while briefing newsmen said, “We are on evaluation, monitoring, observation and enforcement of the directives by the state government.
He held that the order is to protect lives and not punishment as the people would think. We shall work closely with the directives and ensure that social distance is also maintained.
Member representing Ughelli North Constituency II, Prince Eric Oharisi appealed to the people Ughelli to adhere strictly to the rules. I know that Covid-19 is real and my plea to my constituents is that, they should be law abiding and maintain social distance.
The PFN leader, while lauding the Delta State Government for the proactive measures taken so far said, “last week Wednesday, all religious leaders in the state met with the state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa and agreed on the lockdown.
“The Church has done much and God is in charge and aware of the pandemic diseases and we will bounce back stronger. Coronavirus pandemic is a pre-millennium tribulations and if it continues, the country will go down”. He stated.
