EJEME-UNOR – The Traditional Ruler of Ejeme- Unor Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Obi Godwin Nzemeke Amb. (J.P), the Obi of Ejeme- Unor on Thursday being 24th of October, 2019 Celebrated the New Yam Festival in grandstyle with his Community people to Mark a period of harvest for farming season.
The monarch who doubled as the Chairman of Aniocha South Traditional Rulers Council spoke to our reporter recently in his palace at Ejeme – Unor while thanking God for his grace, protection and provision for the people of his Community.
It was a great meriment in the three quarters that made up of Ejeme-Unor Community namely: Ogbe- Obi quarters, Umuokpala quarters, and Umusam quarters as the entire Community gathered in the palace after several hours of singing and dancing as the entire Community was filled with music, feeding sumptuously with foods, meats, fishes pounded Yam and other enjoyment galore.
The first class Monarch in Aniocha South L.G.A commended other traditional rulers who graced the occasion included amongst others:very HRM, the Obi of Egbuduaka Kingdom, Obi Augustine Ezeaguna Nzemeke Okolie the lII, HRM, the Obi of Olodu Kingdom, Obi Ifechukwude the 1, and a first class in Egbuduaka Kingdom, Chief Chinedu Asiana and some other traditional rulers were present in that celebration.
Ejeme- Unor Monarch noted that the successful outing is a good sign that his Chiefs, Obi-in-Council, the youths, Women and every other interest groups in the Community have kept the pace with the traditions of their forefathers, added that the significance of the traditions and Culture is that it promotes love, unity, and peace amongst community people, and then thanked God for making the Community to witness a period of bumber harvest for the year 2019.
The New Yam Festival according to the king is one of the major traditions that bring entire people, both indigenes and Non- indigenes from far and near together for funfare, celebration, happiness and joy.
