ASABA-The Leadership of Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Apostle Emeka Eleke has Commended doggedness of the Leadership of PHEW Foundation International led by its Director -General, Engr. Mrs Uche Queen Chigbo on organization’s stand against human trafficking in Nigerian Society.
This was made known to our reporter yesterday at the Campus of National Open University Campus, Asaba Study Centre, inside the temporary site of Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, Delta State.
The dinitaries that graced the occasion included: The Leadership of PHEW Foundation International, DG, Engr. Uche Queen Chigbo, PHEW Foundation Public Relation Officer, Mr. Anthony Didioma, PHEW Foundation Welfare Officer, Okoli Grace, other principal officers, Atagbaza Ted, Umuvwiese, Emmanuel, Chinenyenwa Sonia Ibekie, also joined is the LAWSAN Leadership President, Apostle Emeka Eleke, LAWSAN Secretary, Mr. Kenneth Agweauria, LAWSAN VP, Ben Nwafili, LAWSAN BOT, Snr. Apostle Joe Nwoye, LAWSAN Treasurer, Roland Rose Abundance, NOUN Senior Store Officer, Felix Njokede, and Assistant Store Officer, Dcn. Edward Samson and others.
PHEW FOUNDATION International is a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) of repute, Member of Delta State CMET, NGO with the accronym Peace, Health, Environment and Water (PHEW); working in the thematic area of fight against human trafficking in Collaboration with NAPTIP, COWOYEN, IOM, CNN, Local Government Councils, A21, Community Leaders, sensitizing Communities on the dangers of irregular migration, Campaign against human trafficking and others which has give over 1500 Students positive mindset in different Schools in the State.
Apostle Emeka Stated that LAWSAN , Asaba Study Centre deemed it necessary to honor PHEW Foundation International with Award, having critically observed and watched her Organization’s
contributions on the fight Against Human Trafficking in Delta State and Nigeria in general.
Engr. Mrs Chigbo who doubled as the dry plant Manager, NBTC Who appreciated LAWSAN Leadership in a vote of thanks stated that the group never knew that the efforts they were putting in the fight against Human trafficking is being noticed, which have led to this award.
The 2007 PTI graduate of Electrical and Electronics Engineering noted that the award will be a boost to continue and expand our reach in the fight against human trafficking. Pledging that the group will continue on its resolve to public sensitization, campaign for both rural and urban areas, precisely on the vulnerable people.
In her Words: “We use this opportunity to call on Lawyers to Support the fight against human trafficking by ensuring that cases relating to human trafficking and violence in persons is treated as top priority and the culprits brought to book immediately. prompt execution of perpetrators will help stop the growing rate of trafficking that is going on unchecked in our society”.
