Three months after he was reelected and sworn in as senator representing Delta Central and Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege doled out eight Toyota Corolla cars and other items to members of APC led executive of his Delta Central Constituency.
Other items given out by the senator included 45 tricycles, 175 motorcycles and 189 grinding machines.
The items presented to the beneficiaries drawn from the 8 local government areas of the district was done at the country home of the Deputy President of the Senate, at Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Omo-Agege who was represented by Jimmy Omo-Agege said, “The event is an empowerment program and to whom much is given, much is expected, so today the DSP wants to rewards those that have worked tirelessly and seriously APC and also worked for his reelection.
“Sustainable empowerment of the people is the key to a safer and better society. It is my resolve to represent my people with the very best of my capabilities and in doing so, empowerment programs like this one is one of the ways in which we can reach out to the rural people and help them to be self-sufficient.”
According to him, “Agege is someone that rewards loyalty and soon he is going to do another empowerment in the next two months and I can assure you that more people will be rewarded because they worked for the party and they helped us a lot.
“For those of you who have not being rewarded today, I want to implore not to dispel because this empowerment is going to continue, this is just the beginning of the DSP to reward those who worked tirelessly for the party”. Jimmy stated.
Also speaking, the Director-General of Ovie Omo-Agege Campaign Organization, Mr. Francis Otanomeyovwi said, “Today have been chosen by our distinguish senator because those who have worked assiduously, work hard to ensure that Delta central will deliver Mr. President Buhari also deliver our very own Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the 2019 elections.
“Every labourer deserve wages and today the empowerment scheme is to show an appreciation to those who have work and that is why he has graciously given cars to all the LGA chairmen, and Keke Napep, motorcycles and grinding machines to others.
This empowerment of today aught to have been done in his first tenure but because of the pressure of the election then, we could not give out these gifts and you can imagine how his second tenure empowerment for party faithful will be more because he has the interest of his people at heart.
“The gesture was to appreciate the people for their massive support for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and we are very grateful to President Muhammadu for assisting us the people of Delta state, Niger/Delta region and the entire Nigeria people who voted for our beloved senator as the Deputy President of the Senate.
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ughelli North, Onoabedje Obakpororo who spoke to newsmen said, “This is expected and it is another way of encouraging party faithful that worked very hard during elections. In an election, people must encouraged so that when you are motivated the zeal to do more will be there and that is the essence of this empowerment”.
